Description of duties JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the general direction of the Center Director, manage and lead the FARMSMART Educational Outreach program. Coordinate and guide volunteers; lead staff. Manage funds and develop budget plans for Farm Smart program. Develop and manage Center outreach budget. Develop and implement public tours, school and family programs, field trips, lectures and K-12 science educational programs. Lead tours and teach. Maintain records and prepare reports.
Qualifications sought Minimum Qualifications:

  • Leadership skills to participate in recruitment, discipline, training and developing staff.
  • Experience planning, developing and teaching youth educational programs.
  • Experience with public speaking.
  • Experience with program management and financial planning.
  • Skill to facilitate educational programs effectively and to analyze and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of non-formal science and environmental education standards.
  • Knowledge of principals of K-12 learning and program application.
  • Writing, editing, proofreading, and graphic design skills to create and edit documents and publications, including brochures, newsletters, large technical manuscripts, display posters.
  • Experience with computer software; Microsoft Office, Internet applications/web browsers; e-mail applications, and other utilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience planning, developing and teaching educational programs in an agricultural research or environmental setting.
  • Organizational skills to plan and coordinate numerous projects and activities, to work accurately with frequent interruptions, and to prioritize workload.
  • Experience using social media networks.
  • Experience using database import and export for financial management.
  • Experience using ANR Portal Tools (Survey Tool, Data store, Site Builder, and Collaborative Tools) and UC Davis Smart Site.
  • Skill to maintain accurate and organized records and library materials.
  • Knowledge of mailing protocols to support Center’s outreach and publication sales efforts.
  • Knowledge of UC Financial and Accounting programs.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to project enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
