Description of duties

A research assistantship is available for a motivated Ph.D. student to conduct greenhouse and field-based research on the competitive interactions between intercropped vegetable and small fruit crops in Central Florida.  The research program will focus on understanding competitive relationships between crops and strategies to improve pest control and maximize yield and economic return.  The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of faculty and graduate students at the Gulf Coast Research and Education Center near Tampa, Florida.  

Qualifications sought

PhD applicants should have a solid foundation in one or more areas of weed science, pest management, ecology, soil science, agronomy, or plant physiology. Ph.D. applicants should have earned a degree at the master’s level or comparable in the study of plant science, horticulture, weed science/ecology, agronomy, or plant ecology. The candidate must be able to work both independently and as a member of a team. Preference will be given to those with combined field and laboratory experience.
