Description of duties The School of Plant, Environmental, and Soil Sciences seeks applicants for a 12 month (55% research and 45% teaching), tenure-track position in sustainable agronomic production. The incumbent will establish a nationally recognized externally funded research program that will complement efforts of soils and plant nutrition scientists in the unit by focusing on integrated production-related issues of important Louisiana crops. The research will support and be integrated with a teaching component. The successful candidate will teach an udergraduate/graduate course in weed science, undergraduate courses on crop production, and a graduate course on research methods. The incumbent will take leadership in developing the sustainable production curriculum in an interdepartmental program. Additional responsibilities include advising student groups and recruitment of undergraduates in agronomic and related disciplines.
Qualifications sought Ph.D. in soils, agronomy, weed science applied biology or closely related field. Experience in production agronomy is desireable. Willingness to work closely with others and recruit students is required. Some travel is required. Excellent verbal and written communication is required.
