Description of duties
  • Primary responsibility for technically assessing product opportunities including product acquisitions, licensing opportunities and existing product expansions of a material nature.
  • Participate in the global search and identification of opportunities.  Track industry technical trends, product innovations, etc. that could present opportunities for the company or could impact the business positively or negatively. 
  • Design and implement a technical assessment plan as necessary to evaluate opportunities in coordination with commercial, technical service and regulatory teams.
  • Responsible for the technical internal integration of new products acquired, licensed or developed.

 

Sales and General Commercial Support

  • Support the activities of the Technical Service Manager, North America. Dotted line responsibility for this position.
  • Co-manage with the Technical Service Manager, North America; 1) the active projects database which tracks the on-going progress of all development activities, 2) 3rd party development consultants typically conducting field trials, 3) the distillation of technical information in to concise business conclusions for internal consumption and for the creation of external market audiences, 4) the responsibility for ensuring the technical accuracy of all internal and external communication
  • Play a more direct role overseeing product development and technical support for the company’s international business.  Review and approve field trial protocols, provide technical guidance and advice, provide occasional in-field support as the business requires.
  • Ensure fluid communication of technical concepts, ideas and opportunities across all disciplines within the company especially across the North America and International commercial teams.
  • Manage the company’s biology database.  Ultimate responsibility for the direction for use on product labels.
  • Lead the effort to obtain efficacy, crop safety or other field information required to obtain regulatory approvals (SLN’s, Section 3’s, International registrations, etc.) to further a project or product expansion.
Qualifications sought
  • Able to identify, qualify and quantify the technical strengths and weaknesses of development opportunities. 
  • Technical experience across a wide range of agricultural crops and crop protection segments
  • A PhD in an agronomic related field is preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in crop protection product development.  Experience in field development, technical support, marketing, and product management is a plus.
  • Strong electronic administrative and communication skills. 
  • Experienced and comfortable analyzing and understanding the technical implications of intellectual property in the analysis of product opportunities and integrating technical IP in to a product strategy.
  • Able to project knowledge and ideas through excellent presentation skills. 
  • Enthusiastic team player but able to work independently.  Able to flexibly prioritize activities in concert with the business goals of the company.
  • Demonstrate technical/analytical prudence but with a sense of urgency
  • Ability and willingness to travel.  Expected travel requirements is up to 40%
  • Spanish language capability a plus
