Description of duties A temporary, hourly-student, or hourly-nonstudent, position is currently available in the Department of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville for a candidate interested in pollutant fate and transport of herbicides in soybean production and tailwater recovery systems. This research will include on-farm studies, plot-scale field work, and growth chamber/greenhouse studies. Overnight travel to field sites may be required. The selected candidate will be essential for performing daily tasks in the lab such as washing glassware, watering plants, and collecting herbicide injury data. The candidate will have the opportunity to participate in research that incorporates soil chemistry, environmental/water quality, and agronomy while interacting with a highly qualified group of researchers involved in a variety of environmental chemistry related projects.
Qualifications sought Desired qualifications include a background in soybean production and weed science with an interest in chemistry and environmental soil science. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, and effective written and oral communication skills are strongly desired. Laboratory experience with analytical instrumentation, specifically HPLC and/or GC-MS, is beneficial but not required.
