Description of Employer Shelterbelt Builders Inc. is a California General & Landscape Contractor and Pest Control Business specializing in the restoration and stewardship of natural lands in Northern California. From Mt. Tamalpais to the new salt marshes of the South San Francisco Bay, we have two decades of experience serving private landowners and land management agencies throughout nine Bay Area counties. Our services include wetlands, stream and upland restoration projects, invasive weed/wildlife control, agriculture land stewardship, commercial landscaping/LID/green roofs, and plant surveys/monitoring. We offer a challenging outdoor work experience in some of the Bay Area’s most scenic locations.
Location San Francisco
Description of Location We have two offices in the Bay Area, San Francisco and Berkeley. The Project Coordinator primarily works from the San Francisco office and occasionally is required to go to job sites and client meetings.

Description of duties

– Management of capital and maintenance contracts, including scheduling, permitting, client / staff / equipment coordination, material and equipment preparation, and site logistics.

– Prepares RFIs / submittals, schedules, sequencing plans, change orders, and purchase orders as needed.

– Develops and maintains detailed project budgets for projects, intended to track expenditures for cost management and future reference.

– Maintains maintenance logs and photo databases, as well as reports work progress to clients.

–  Monitors and procures equipment and materials for the shops and specific jobs.

– Attends pre-bid conferences and scoping meetings; assists Project Managers and Foremen with project pricing and bidding.

–  Researches bid opportunities for future work. 

–  Supports building, planning and environmental permitting.

–  Assists with annual reporting for permits / clients and restoration plans.

Qualifications sought

Minimum Qualifications:

–  Organizational and communication superpowers.

–  Demonstrated strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Acrobat/BlueBeam.

–  Comfort with being outside in places far, far away from other people and services. (This is an administrative/office position, however, you will need to travel to job sites on occasion.)

–  Awareness of how large scale construction projects work and how trades, designers and environmental regulators all work together.

–  Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, complex work environment where many different prople are making requests.

–  Ability to effectively communicate in writing (including sketches/drawings) and verbally.


Preferred Qualifications:

–  Coursework or degree relevant to biology, construction management, agriculture or other relevant disciplines.

–  Previous work experience in construction or resource management.

–  Common knowledge of local plants and wildlife.

–  Experience with GIS software.  We utilize ESRI, Avenza/Adobe, Trimble and open source programs in our workflows.

–  Interest in natural resource management and general desire to help the Earth, one day at a time.
