Description of duties Potential graduate research areas include evaluating harvest weed seed control, herbicide application technologies, integrated weed management, and weed ecology. Research will have the flexibility to include greenhouse, field, and laboratory experiments. The student is expected to present results in professional meetings and publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The student is also expected to participate in scholarly activities relevant to their training needs and career goals.
Qualifications sought The preferred candidate must hold or be currently working towards an BS degree in weed science, agronomy, agroecology or other relevant field and will demonstrate strong interest in Weed Science. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of agronomic crop production systems. The candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to support the farming community through research, an excellent work ethic, ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural research team, ability to conduct independent research, and proficiency in English language (written and oral). Excellent academic track record and GRE/TOEFL scores are must.

 

This position requires travel to research sites, with occasional overnight stays. A valid driver license is required (should be obtained within two months of start). The candidate must meet all requirements for admission to Louisiana State University.
