Description of duties The graduate research assistant will focus on developing integrated weed management solutions in row-crop/rice production in Texas. The student is expected to present results in professional meetings and publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The student is also expected to participate in scholarly activities relevant to their training needs and career goals. The successful candidate is expected to assist in teaching a limited number of academic labs within the Soil and Crop Sciences Department. Upon successful completion of all requirements, the student will receive a PhD in Agronomy.
Qualifications sought The preferred candidate must hold or be currently working towards an MS degree in weed science, agronomy, agroecology or other relevant field and will demonstrate strong interest in Weed Science. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of agronomic crop production systems. The candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to support farming community through research, an excellent work ethic, ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural research team, ability to conduct independent research, and proficiency in English language (written and oral). Excellent academic track record and GRE/TOEFL scores are must.

This position requires travel to research sites, with occasional overnight stays. A valid driver license is required (or be able to obtain within two months of start).
