Description of duties

This is a Post-Doctoral position to conduct applied research focused on soil health and weed management dynamics in organic cropping systems. Research explores relationships between weed management and soil amendment strategies on soil health, organic matter pools, weed communities and crop productivity.

 

Duties will include:

  • Analysis, synthesis and writing of peer-review manuscripts using existing organic field crop experiments;
  • Conducting a comprehensive literature review on relationships between weed management and soil organic matter;
  • Coordinating organic field trials;
  • Supporting grant writing to secure external funding;
  • Supervising and training undergraduate and graduate students in field and lab procedures.

 

The position is based at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) in Wooster, Ohio. This is a term position for up to 1 year, depending upon funding availability and performance.

Qualifications sought

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD with expertise in soils, crops, weeds, and/or ecology;
  • Demonstrated experience in effective writing and synthesis of peer-reviewed scientific literature and in developing and writing grant proposals;
  • Excellent organizational and quantitative skills;
  • Demonstrated record of research excellence and publications;
  • Effective oral and written communicator.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in organic systems.
