Description of duties
  • Serve as herbicide biology subject matter expert and/or project leader on multi-disciplinary teams to collaborate, provide technical input and deliver results aligned with Crop Protection Discovery product goals.
  • Utilize demonstrated expertise in weed science including plant physiology, herbicide resistance and herbicide fate to support the characterization and advancement of novel molecules or technologies within the discovery pipeline
  • Design and execute herbicide screening assays across various projects.
  • Leverage deep understanding of molecular biology, plant biochemistry and metabolic pathways to elucidate experimental compound mode-of-action.
  • Define and conduct research across multiple project areas using in-depth knowledge and proactive application of scientific principles, theory and experimental design.
  • Demonstrate expertise in use of experimental/computational/theoretical methods and data handling. 
  • Participate and contribute to the innovation process through new opportunity identification.
  • Keep current with developments in weed science via in-depth understanding of patent, journal literature and competitive landscape and implement applications that will benefit Corteva Agriscience, Agriculture Division of DowDupont.
  • Share subject matter expertise through collaborations, coaching and mentoring.
  • Deliver presentations or reports that distill complex ideas into clear results and proposals; communicate appropriately to influence internal and external audiences
  • Communicate and appropriately document work in the form of internal report/presentations and external publications/presentations (when appropriate).  Draft and submit patent disclosures as appropriate. 
  • Develop strategies for using external contact network; demonstrated influence to external organizations that impact and contribute to Corteva Agriscience, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont success.
  • Willing to comply with envirnomental health and safety mandates by adherence to policies and procedures.
Qualifications sought
  • Ph.D  in a Weed Science or related discipline.
  • Strong track record of scientific innovation.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in experimental design and hypothesis-driven problem-solving is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills are essential.
  • Desire to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment is critical for success.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects under aggressive timelines.
  • Experience in understanding and elucidating herbicide mode-of-action and/or understanding of herbicide resisitance mechanisms.
  • Background in molecular biology, plant biochemistry and xeonobiotic metabolism.
  • Working knowledge in areas of Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.
