Salary Compensation is competitive. Tuition and fees are waived, and the assistantship includes student health insurance through the University System Board of Regents student health program.

Description of duties The graduate assistant will conduct original research on the biology and ecology of weed species as it pertains to integrated weed management. The graduate assistant will conduct research in laboratory, greenhouse and field settings with the goal of providing real-world insight for improved weed management. Opportunities integrating remote sensing into these areas can be available if it is of interest to the student. Students will be expected to present research findings at regional and national professional meetings. Participation in activities such as teaching lectures or laboratory class sections in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences will be expected. Additional activities relevant to the student’s future professional goals are encouraged.
Qualifications sought Applicants must meet necessary requirements for admission to The University of Georgia (http://grad.uga.edu/index.php/prospective-students/domestic-application-information/requirements/). A successful candidate must be in high academic standing and have a competitive GRE score for admission. A commitment to high-quality research, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as a part of a team is required. Students with previous experience in weed science, horticulture, and/or agronomy are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants should be proficient in written and oral forms of the English language.  Applicants must be willing and able to obtain a valid Georgia drivers license.
