Description of duties


AgriMetis™ is seeking an experienced Field Biology Lead to personally work with internal and external scientists to design, manage, and interpret crop protection product efficacy and crop safety trials in field environments.

The Field Biology Lead will be responsible for all field trial activities required to advance the agrichemical R&D pipeline portfolio of AgriMetis. The initial focus will be on herbicides, but evaluation across all crop protection classes will be required.

The successful candidate will work with scientific and commercial leaders, internally and externally, to generate, and execute on, a testing plan aligned to AgriMetis’ corporate goals.

Essential Functions

Create and communicate clear go / no go decision milestones for product efficacy and crop safety field testing, defining resources needed and timelines.

Work with internal and external scientists to define protocols and testing plans to appropriately address the key milestones for product evaluation and program advancement.

Lead the selection of field sites and work with external partners to implement the protocols appropriately.

Travel to field sites as appropriate to ensure that the quality of the data being generated are sufficient to make the decisions required regarding program advancement.

Work with internal and external scientists to interpret the results in a rigorous and statistical manner and make suggestions for future trials and program advancement.

Contribute to the development and implementation of controlled environment and/or greenhouse efficacy and crop safety studies.

Develop, document, and communicate product knowledge and technical information to diverse audiences, to influence and educate key influencers, about the value and potential of AgriMetis products.

Develop and maintain a high level of technical competency to ensure technical foundation remains strong in self and the workgroup.

Serve as a resource, mentor and coach to others in areas of expertise to help build overall competency in the organization.

Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required for AgriMetis to discover, develop, and deliver novel agrichemical products.

Qualifications sought

Required Education and Experience

M.S in agronomy or related science.

5 to 10 years in roles with increasing responsibility in evaluating crop protection product efficacy and crop safety in field environments.

Herbicide trial experience required, with additional insecticide, fungicide, and/or nematicide trial experience preferred.

Knowledge of, and experience working with, key thought leaders in academia and top performing contract research field sites.

Experience designing, managing, and interpreting experiments under controlled environment and/or greenhouse conditions, and integrating those results with field trials, preferred.

Experience with field trials in North America required, with additional experience with field trials in South America preferred.

Experience as a member (in this case representing Biology) of cross-functional leadership teams and demonstrated flexibility, accountability, and responsibility as a member. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other leaders and employees of diverse and differing perspectives in an office environment. Experience as a remote leader with other functional leaders will be taken into consideration.

Excellent communications skills and a self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset.
