Description of duties

The position responsibilities include conducting independent research in plant breeding and genomics research, specifically in sorghum and weed species. The work includes investigation of transfer of herbicide-tolerant trait via conventional breeding and mapping gene(s) responsible for tolerance using genomic analyses in sorghum. Assistance with writing grant proposals to secure funds from various sources is also expected. Other duties include data analysis, interpret results and writing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Create an environment that fosters diversity, collegiality, and ability to work in a multi-cultural setting. 

Qualifications sought

Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics or Weed Science. Experience in basic plant molecular biology, genomics, and physiology is required. Demonstrated ability to write clearly and effectively in English. Demonstrated ability to publish scientific articles in respected journals.
