Salary $26,371 (including tuition fees). Graduate Research Assistants are considered Kansas residents for tuition purposes and are responsible for paying tuition and fees.

Description of duties

We are seeking an outstanding MS student to conduct field research on understanding the impacts of herbicide application technology and evaluating integrated weed management programs (cover crops and herbicides) for effective control of problem weed species in Roundup Ready 2 Xtend Soybean across multiple locations in Kansas (Hays, Manhattan, Belleville). Research projects will be under the directions of Dr. Vipan Kumar (KSU Agricultural Research Center near Hays, KS, https://www.hays.k-state.edu/programs/weeds/index.html) and Dr. Anita Dille (Department of Agronomy, Manhattan, KS, https://www.agronomy.k-state.edu/). The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to teach lab sections of courses in the Agronomy Department.

Qualifications sought

Candidates should have:

– BS degree (3.2 GPA minimum) in agronomy, crop science or a closely related discipline.

– Demonstrated excellence in course work, good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work as a team member are also required.

-Laboratory or field research experience and a willingness to travel and work in inclement weather conditions during the cropping season.
