Description of duties
  • Provide leadership to Extension activities, including 4-H.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate programs for adults and youth.
  • Develop partnerships and employ innovative approaches to reach clientele and new audiences.
  • Pursue internal and external funding to support Extension programming.
  • Document impacts and produce scholarly publications based on Extension programming.
  • Manage budgets, personnel, and volunteers.
  • Serve diverse audiences and support the civil rights mandate of Utah State University Extension.
  • Serve and collaborate with other Extension and University personnel, community and government agencies, and stakeholders.
Qualifications sought Minimum Qualifications

Extension Assistant/Associate faculty ranks require an earned Master’s degree in an Agriculture and/or Horticulture discipline, or related area.

 

The Professional Practice Extension Assistant Professor rank requires a Bachelor’s degree and significant professional experience in a related field.

 

Consideration will be given to those candidates nearing completion of their Master’s.

  • Ability to plan, organize and direct educational programs.
  • Experience in teaching adult and/or youth audiences.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to act as a liaison between federal, state, university, and county clientele.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Must have a current driver’s license, auto insurance, and access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with:

o          Program development and/or delivery related to Agriculture.

o          Program development and/or delivery related to Horticulture.

o          Program development and/or delivery related to Natural Resources, Public Lands, Rangelands, Water and/or Livestock.

o          Program development and/or delivery related to 4-H or other youth development activities.

o          Using various technology platforms for the creation and dissemination of educational webinars, on-line classes, and educational video productions.

  • Skills and experience with:

o          Implementing applied research activities.

o          Grant writing.

o          Recruiting, supervising, and working with volunteers.

o          Low income and under-served audiences.

o          Social media.

o          Related organizations/agencies and fostering positive relationships with community stakeholders.

  • Prior experience with the Land Grant University System.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish.
