Description of duties

A MS level Graduate Research Assistantship is available to conduct research on weed management in chile pepper.  The research will focus on the integration of Brassicaceae cover crops with pre-emergence herbicides for control of early season weeds in chile pepper.  The goal of the project is to develop new, practical strategies that reduce reliance on hand-hoeing.  The project will involve field and greenhouse studies, as well as opportunities for economic modelling and outreach.  The research assistant will work under the guidance of Dr. Erik Lehnhoff and Dr. Brian Schutte.

Qualifications sought

B.S. in a plant science or biology discipline, experience in field and greenhouse settings, a willingness to work in inclement weather, and a desire to learn statistical techniques.
