Description of duties

The successful applicant will choose from an assortment of research projects that will involve both field and laboratory studies.  Field research will mainly be conducted in summer months and laboratory research in winter months.  Research will likely focus on Palmer amaranth in soybean and cotton or barnyardgrass in rice.  The student will also be exposed to field research in corn and grain sorghum and work alongside post doctoral associates in a new state of the art molecular laboratory.   Opportunities for research in greenhouses and other controlled conditions are also likely.   The student will be expected to annually present research finding at state, regiional, and national conferences.  

Qualifications sought

A PhD level student is preferred with demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication and a background in weed science, agronomy, or closely related field.
