Description of duties

A postdoctoral position is available in the Horticultural Sciences Department at the University of Florida, Gainesville with a focus on cover crop use in horticultural and agronomic cropping systems. The candidate will assist with the management of multistate, multidisciplinary research projects and engage in field, greenhouse, and laboratory studies to evaluate the effects of cover crops on weeds, slugs, plant pathogens, and soil health. Data analysis and interpretation, presentations at scientific meetings, and report and manuscript preparation, and assistance with grant writing also are required.

Qualifications sought

Minimum requirements: A PhD in Horticultural Sciences, Agronomy or Soil Science or related discipline and superior organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: General expertise in utilizing cover crops for agroecosystem services and specific expertise in their use for weed management. Proficiency in the use of SAS for data analysis. Project management training and/or experience.
