Description of duties PhD opening in image analysis/precision weed management at Texas A&M University

A PhD graduate research assistantship is available at the Weed Science Research Laboratory, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas to develop remote sensing/machine learning solutions for weed detection, classification, and mapping to facilitate precision weed management. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary team of researchers and collaborate with GROW (Getting Rid Of Weeds; https://growiwm.org) and PSA (Precision Sustainable Agriculture; http://precisionsustainableag.org) networks. The position starts in the fall2020/spring 2021 term.

Qualifications sought The preferred candidate must hold or be currently working towards an MS degree in a relevant field. Knowledge of various sensors, familiarity with image analysis softwares, a strong interest in precision weed management, an aptitude to quickly learn concepts, and an ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team are must.
