Description of duties

Job Description:

  • The successful candidate will be a key member of the Global Herbicide New Ag Tech team working with the Global Lead of Herbicide Research and serving as the primary coordinator of day-to-day activities related to conducting glasshouse and lab studies for the Herbicide discovery program.
  • Activities include managing day-to-day activities of the greenhouse and laboratory, coordinating with the Glasshouse Manager to schedule greenhouse space, managing inventories of research supplies, culturing crops and weeds, establishing experiments, applying experimental treatments, conducting assessments, performing preliminary results summaries and providing regular updates to the Global Lead of Herbicide Research on progress of experiments.

  • You have a passion for agriculture and for the discipline of weed management in crop production.
  • You have a need to know “why” and the ability to stick with a problem until you find an answer
  • You have strong observational skills, can formulate hypotheses based on observations, design experiments to test those hypotheses and analyze results against the hypotheses
  • You are precise and detail oriented while retaining the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • You are comfortable with working alone or as part of a larger team
  • You have proven ways of organizing your time and managing projects

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited college or university in Agronomy, Weed Science, Agroecology, Crop Science or Biological discipline
  • Experience conducting greenhouse or controlled-environment experiments with plants
  • Proficiency with modern office software tools such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and Microsoft Teams
  • Ability to work in the United States on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
