| Description of duties |
This 12 month, tenure track position at the assistant/associate professor rank in the Department of Plant Sciences is 80% research and 20% teaching. Responsibilities will include weed science research to address weed biology and ecology as related to agricultural practices in North Dakota. Both field and laboratory research concerning weeds and their interaction with agricultural and natural environments is expected. The selected individual will teach courses in weed biology/ecology and weed identification. The person in this position will have the opportunity to study cropping systems, the interaction of weeds within both natural and artificial environments, and/or organic weed control. They are expected to advise graduate and undergraduate students, interact with commodity groups, and participate in university activities. They are also expected to train students in practical methods of weed biology and ecology research.
Field, laboratory, and greenhouse facilities and equipment are available along with technical support. Cooperation with other weed scientists and other scientists in the college is expected.

| Qualifications sought |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Assistant Professor
- Ph.D. in weed science or a related plant science discipline
- Demonstrated experience in practical field and lab research involving weed biology and/or ecology
- Familiarity with statistical analysis
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work as a team member
Associate Professor
- In addition to the qualifications listed above, significant experience/accomplishments in ones area of expertise are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- University teaching and advising experience and experience in writing grant applications.
