Description of duties Description of Duties: This position will be responsible for the development of herbicide products for use in Roundup ReadyŽ and other herbicide tolerant cropping systems. Responsibilities will include the design, implementation, and execution of field research trials and supporting greenhouse/growth chamber studies to provide new herbicide product solutions for weed control in agronomically important crops. The ability to clearly interpret and communicate research findings in a timely manner is a key imperative. This candidate will provide technical leadership and will interact closely with other research functions as well as commercial development and business groups.

Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Creating weed control strategies for corn, soybeans, and cotton with Roundup Ready and new herbicide tolerance traits
  • Designing appropriate biological studies to identify new product weed control solutions in both field trial and greenhouse/growth chamber environments.
  • Driving the development process through collaborative research efforts with biologists and chemists.
  • Working closely with commercial development functions to implement appropriate strategies to address key weed control issues in the marketplace.
Qualifications sought Qualifications Sought: PhD or MS with a minimum of three years experience in Weed Science, Agronomy, Botany, Horticulture, or other Plant Science related fields is required. Successful candidate must have sound technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and experience working in a cross functional team environment. Understanding the integration of research priorities and commercial interests to drive product introduction strategies will be an important attribute. Candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills to clearly articulate results and recommendations to diverse audiences and influence research priorities and strategy. The ability to use innovative approaches and creative research thinking will be highly valued. The ideal candidate will have a PhD (or MS with extensive experience) in Weed Science or Agronomy with a good understanding of crop production practices and weed control strategies. The ability to successfully operate in a cross functional environment and drive technical programs is highly important.
