Description of duties The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Subarctic Agricultural Research Unit in Fairbanks, Alaska, is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (RA) to develop protocols from coupling GIS with environmental models that can be used within the framework of the overall risk evaluation methodology for assessing and predicting change in plants and crop pests in response to changes in land management and climate. Qualifications sought A PhD in agronomy, rangelands, geography, natural resources, botany, or related environmental field is required as well as knowledge of integrating vegetation and landscape variables within a geographic information system soil-plant-water relationships statistical and geostatistical techniques analysis of remotely sensed imagery.
