| Description of duties |
- Work closely with CIMMYT staff and partners in ongoing cropping systems research for development programs in South, Central and East Asia.
- Work with partners to develop efficient and dynamic research for development programs focused on understanding and extending agricultural systems based on the principles of Conservation Agriculture (CA).
- Develop partnerships with researchers in advanced research institutes to incorporate their expertise into the Asian research for development program.
- Oversee the management of on-station and on-farm trials designed to study the effects of CA-based technologies on system productivity, soil quality, water and nutrient use
- Help develop innovation systems focused on the adaptation of CA practices and equipment to the circumstances of small-scale, resource-constrained farmers.
- Communicate research results to diverse communities, including scientists, change agents, policy makers and farmers.
- Provide practical training to local researchers and extension agents on the efficient management of agronomic research programs and on the principles and practice of CA-based systems.
- Help develop new initiatives in CA in the region and elsewhere.

| Qualifications sought |
- Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science or a closely related field.
- Considerable practical agricultural experience, including experience with on-farm research and farm equipment.
- Experience with adapting the principles of CA to local biophysical and socioeconomic conditions.
- Experience translating research results to extension and policy bulletins and training materials
- Computer literacy, with proficiency in the common software packages.
- Ability to communicate research results effectively to a wide range of audiences
- Proficiency in the English language.
- Ability to work in multi-cultural environments and in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Willingness to spend considerable time away from home.
- Commitment to advances in farm productivity and poverty reduction in the developing world.
