Closing date of competition 05/17/2009 Date position available 04/18/2009 Description of duties Field Biologists implement the Product Development program within the assigned territory of Iowa, MN and MO. Incumbent must reside in Iowa. This includes the evaluation of new candidate crop protection technology and development of new label applications for established products. This involves internal as well as trial programs with key cooperators, both university and private; the timely monitoring of those trials for data as well as insights and innovations. The Field Biologist is expected to perform at a high level of competence and responsibility. This also includes supporting Agricultural Tech Service and Sales departments by conducting meetings, tours and/or demonstrations. A general understanding of agronomy is also needed. * BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education that are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. * NOTE: This position is part of a job family with multiple levels. The successful candidate will be placed at an appropriate grade level commensurate with their qualifications. Qualifications sought Master of Science in Entomology, Weed Science, or Plant Pathology within the applied area of Agronomy with 5 years of field experience, preferably in the midwestern United States OR PhD in Agronomic Science with 2 years of applied field testing experience. Good leadership, organizational, administrative and people skills are required. Good communication, problem solving, negotiation and conflict management skills are also required.
