Date of posting here January 19, 2009 Type of position Summer Seasonal Employer Utah State University Location Utah Description of Location Working on 3 Ranger Districts for the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Salary $13-14.50 Closing date of competition April 15, 2009 Date position available May 18, 2009 Description of duties Inventory and map weeds along hiking trails and OHV roads on various Ranger Districts of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Typical work schedule will consist of 4 consecutive 10-hour days per week. Crew members will camp on location during each weekly work period, and will need to provide their own camping gear. A university vehicle will be provided for on-site use and weekly travel between Logan and the work location. Qualifications sought Weed identification, topographic map reading, mountain orienteering, and GPS operation. Must be able to hike at least 50 miles per week alone in mountainous terrain. Must have a valid U.S. driver's license and must meet USU’s defensive driving certification requirements. Preference given to applicants 1) with weed inventory and mapping experience, and 2) having completed university courses in plant identification, weed science, plant taxonomy, and ecology.
