Description of duties The candidate will work on a joint research project between University of California, Davis and USDA-ARS and will be based in the Water Management Research Unit at the USDA-ARS San Joaquin Valley Agricultural Sciences Center near Parlier, CA.

The candidate will conduct field-based research and demonstration research projects on soil fumigants and herbicides in high-value perennial nursery crops and perennial tree/vine production systems. Supporting lab work will include dose-response experiments to determinine optimal fumigant time-dose exposure for broad-spectrum control of soil borne pests.

The position may be extended beyond the initial one-year appointment depending on performance and funding availability.
Qualifications sought Ph.D. in Weed Science, Pathology, or Nematology with an emphasis in field and lab-based pest control research. A demonstrated ability to manage field-scale research and analyze and report research results is highly preferred.
