Description of duties Full time, full year, tenure system position with 60% Extension, 25% Research and 15% Teaching responsibilities. The position will provide leadership and coordination of research and extension efforts related to corn (grain and silage), soybean and wheat crop management systems in Michigan, and develop a locally and nationally recognized extension and research program in agronomy. Research will focus on economically and environmentally sound integrated crop management systems. The research effort is expected to include graduate student training. Extension activities will focus on development and coordination of innovative educational programs for field crop producers. The position will provide oversight for the corn hybrid testing program. The candidate is expected to contribute to a multi-disciplinary team of research scientists and extension specialists to address on-farm field crop production issues. The incumbent is expected to teach an undergraduate course in Advanced Crop Production (CSS 212) and contribute cropping systems information in other courses.
Qualifications sought A Ph.D. in agronomy or a closely related field is required. Experience in applied research, extension, and teaching is expected. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with other researchers and clientele groups.
