The University of Florida/Gulf Coast Research and Education Center (GCREC) is located 20 miles SSE of the city of Tampa. The GCREC is located in Hillsborough County in the heart of fruit and vegetable production regions with more than $1 billion in farm gate value in the surrounding four counties.

| Description of duties |
One assistantship will focus on methyl bromide alternatives, herbicide efficacy, and weed biology in vegetables and small fruits grown on mulch production systems.
The second position will focus on landscape weed management with topics that may include the management of invasive species and off target movement of herbicides to desirable species.
Candidates selected for both positions are expected to be involved with the entire GCREC weed science program which includes vegetables, small fruits, field grown ornamentals, and landscape weed management.

| Qualifications sought |
B.S. or M.S. in agriculture, crop science, horticulture, or biology. Previous experience in small fruits, vegetable, ornamental, or landscape production systems desirable but not required. |
