Description of duties The main goal of this position is to assess gene flow of a genetically-engineered (GE) herbicide resistance trait, (Round-up Ready) occurring along GE and non-GE alfalfa hay and seed production pathways taking into account landscape factors and pollinators. A final output is to develop a production-level gene flow model that industry can use to guide the selection of specific co-existence strategies based on location, production environment and type of pollinator used.
Qualifications sought Applicants should have a Ph.D. and experience with GIS and geospatial analysis. Applicants having previous experience in assessing transgene flow are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants are expected to have a strong publication record, exhibit creativity in their work, and be a team player.
