Description of duties The successful candidate will assemble genetic constructions employing novel gene expression-control technology, introduce them into plants, and evaluate the resulting external regulation of agronomic traits such as herbicide tolerance. Further development of the regulatory technology is also anticipated.

The research will be especially interesting to those persons keen on design of novel gene-expression technologies and/or interested in new methods for the control and containment of transgenic agronomic traits, including herbicide tolerance.

Qualifications sought Requires expertise in current techniques of molecular biology, including DNA cloning, construct assembly and characterization. Experience with plant transformation advantageous.

The individual should be keen to learn other specialized techniques, to work independently and to be self-motivated, and to present research findings verbally and in writing.

The scholar will be expected to be able to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
