Salary $10.00 – $15.00 per hour (DOE)

Description of duties JOB DESCRIPTION:
JOB SUMMARY: Incumbent is responsible for assisting Noxious Weed Crew Leader and other Field Technicians in treating noxious weeds on the Summit Lake Paiute Reservation.


  1. Responsible for the safe and proper application of herbicides to treat noxious weeds.
  2. Responsible for the maintenance of Tribal equipment, property and facilities.
  3. Responsible for operating, repairing, and maintaining various types of equipment and tools, including backpack sprayers and ATV mounted spray tanks, water tanks, trailers, hand tools, pumps, personal protective equipment, and power tools.
  4. Assist with the collection and recording of data, including daily and weekly herbicide application reports.
  5. Implement a work plan and schedule regarding noxious weed treatment, maintenance needs, and priorities.
  6. Responsible for the operation, repair, maintenance, and record keeping for GSA and Tribal vehicles (if and when applicable).
  7. Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications sought MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Must be in good physical condition: ability to carry a backpack weighing approximately 35 pounds for an 8-10 hour shift; ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds.
  3. Incumbent must be able to live and work as a team member in an extremely remote area of Northern Nevada for extended periods of time.
  4. Incumbent must be able to work in inclement weather and enjoy primitive living conditions for extended periods of time.
  5. Must be self-motivated, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Must have mechanical skills and experience operating and maintaining hand and power tools.


  1. Work experience treating noxious weeds.
  2. Ability to keep records and accurate data, be flexible with work schedules and maintain data inventory.
  3. Ability to interpret and follow instructions, work at own initiative, and apply various rules, regulations policies and procedures.
  4. Experience identifying plants or botany coursework.
  5. High School Diploma or GED.
  6. Valid state drivers license and insurable by Tribe’s insurance carrier.
  7. Experience operating ATV’s and familiarity with safe operation practices, or current safety certification.
  8. Experience using handheld GPS units
