Description of Employer Great Lakes Agricultural Research Service, Inc. (GLARS) was established in 1987 by Susan K. Bellman. She has developed her company into one of the most preferred field research facilities in EPA Region V. GLARS specializes in conducting Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) field residue trials, APHIS regulated GMO field trials, and efficacy trials concerning new pesticides, varieties, and fertilizers on many Wisconsin crops. GLARS presently has 6 full time employees and 8 summer temporary employees

Description of duties JOB DESCRIPTION:
Great Lakes Agricultural Research Service, Inc. (GLARS) is looking for a full time, well organized, detail oriented person to be a Principal Field Investigator. Applicant should have a basic knowledge of Wisconsin production agriculture and experience in agricultural field research. Good writing skills and computer skills are essential. Some travel will be required. We are a small organization and are looking for someone who will blend into our company in a positive and productive manner.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Overall responsibility for the successful completion of several regulatory trials (GLP and APHIS trials) each year. (Trial layout, applications, sampling, shipping, and final report).
  2. Overall responsibility for the successful completion of several efficacy trials each year. (Set up, applications, data collection in ARM, and write report).
Qualifications sought Minimum Education: MS in Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Biology, Biotech, Ag-Business or related major

Minimum health requirement: Must be able to conduct field activities and lift a minimum of 50 lb.

Skills:

  1. Agricultural background and research skills necessary to conduct Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) field residue trials, APHIS regulated GMO field trials, and efficacy trials concerning new pesticides, varieties and fertilizers on many Wisconsin Crops.
  2. Basic knowledge of Wisconsin production agriculture and experience in agricultural field research.
  3. Good writing and computer skills.
