Description of duties JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are inviting scientifically trained professionals to apply for the position of Regulatory Sciences and Stewardship Manager within EMEA. This position is preferably located in Brussels and will support the EME and Africa region.

Main Responsibilities:

  • The Regulatory Sciences and Stewardship Manager will become familiar with Monsanto’s product portfolio. He/she will ensure scientific interaction with internal and external stakeholders to enlarge understanding of Monsanto products and services to be provided.
  • The Regulatory Sciences and Stewardship Manager will help define, develop and implement good stewardship practices according to internal guidelines and external regulations. Such an effort will require an ability to work with cross-functional teams on a wide variety of projects.
  • Special attention will be given to weed control practices to position Monsanto’s products and crop production practices into Integrated Weed Management Systems to ensure a sustainable life cycle of these products and systems.
  • Maintaining existing scientific networks and creating new scientific networks will be required.
  • The Regulatory Sciences and Stewardship Manager will support and assist the functional Lead on a wide range of topics.
Qualifications sought
  • Scientific education with a preference for masters in Agronomy or Plant Sciences with good knowledge of environmental related aspects and molecular biology. Experience with agronomic systems, weed science and in depth understanding of the agro-industry is considered a plus.
  • Able to work independently and demonstrate leadership on assigned projects whilst acting as a team player. Work effectively with members of a diverse cross-functional team. Highly developed organizational skills.
  • A proven ability to deliver results in a multi-disciplinary team based working environment; meeting deadlines; actively seeks input from others who have a diversity of thought and experience; keeps appropriate stakeholders apprised of progress towards goals; attention to procedures and processes.
  • Able to quickly establish a high level of trust by taking up accountability for commitments made and holding others accountable in a rigorous yet constructive manner.
  • Well developed computer skills in combination with the ability to focus on developing balanced scientific protocols, data management, statistical analyses, data interpretation and scientific report writing.
  • Excellent communicator, fluent in English (oral and written); additional EMEA languages are an asset.
  • Willing to travel on a regular basis within the EMEA region.
  • A minimum of 5 years working experience within a comparable function is desired.
