Description of Job: Conduct laboratory, growth chamber, greenhouse and field experiments in a soil and plant science research program directed towards the discovery and development of biorational products promoting plant growth and health.

Principal Responsibilities: 

• Assist in developing novel as well as routine test methods for soil microbiology/plant root/rhizosphere research.
• Implement, maintain and complete high quality scientific experiments.
• Assist in assessing and characterizing biological effects of beneficial microbes that promote plant health and growth.
• Grow and maintain test plants and experimental microbial cultures.
• Assist in providing scientific information to support marketing, formulations, and product development as needed.

 Experience: 

• 2 or more years of hands-on laboratory research experience working with plant material is required
• Know-how to grow high quality plants in controlled environments is preferred
• Experience in working with bacterial and fungal cultures is preferred.
• Familiarity with soil microbiology and associated investigative techniques is a plus.
• Field research experience (e.g., experimental design, data collection) is a plus.

• Must be careful, detailed and observant in conducting research studies.
• Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must work well as part of a team; willing to help others while still completing personal workload responsibilities.
• Working familiarity with experimental design and statistical analysis.
• Routine use of MS software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

 Education: 

• BS. or M.S. in Crop and Soil Sciences, Agronomy, Horticulture, Biology, Microbiology, Botany, Plant Pathology, Ecology or related field.
