Position Summary:
The Technician Biology Field will assist with the execution of scientific experiments that may include the effects of seed and plant establishment aids, soils, maintenance practices, nutrition, pesticides and other experimental treatments on seed establishment and performance of lawn grasses. The Technician Biology Field primary duties may include: prepare trial areas for laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments; prepare and apply treatments to test subjects; collect data and enter it into spreadsheets and record observations; maintain test subjects, facilities, and test equipment.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
* Set up and manage experiments according to trial documentation provided.
* Record experimental results and report them as directed.
* Maintain working areas in an efficient and safe manner.
* Maintain field trial areas and associated machinery.
* Establish lawn, garden and pest control trial areas.
* Maintain and obtain stocks of experimental materials and competitor products in a safe and efficient manner logging in as per ISO procedures.
* Take part in weekend duty rotations as required and provide holiday and sick day coverage for colleagues.
* Site maintenance as required.
* Comply with company environment, health, and safety policy and ISO procedures.
* May supervise and direct interns and temporary workers as needed.
* Assist in other support activities, e.g. delivering trial samples and helping with tours and at PR and field day events.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
* Minimum high school diploma with experience in lawn and garden maintenance.
* BS degree or industry experience in a laboratory, greenhouse or field setting is desired.
* Attention to detail, accuracy and basic math skills.
* Observational skills to identify visual differences in seedling and plant performance.
* Ability to follow work instructions and test protocols.
* Personal drive and ability to be a self-starter and work unsupervised.
* Ability to function as part of a team.
* Ability to operate equipment such as mowers, tractors, utility carts and other typical equipment used to maintain lawns, gardens and greenhouses.
* Basic computer skills including use of spreadsheets, word processing, and email.
* Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
