Description of duties |
Seeking a motivated student with interest in weed Science for a graduate assistantship within the Plant and Soil Sciences Department at the Delta Research and Extension Center, Stoneville, MS. Perform field, laboratory, and greenhouse routines such as inoculating, spraying, weighing, measuring, counting, handling soil, evaluating experiments, and planting and growing plants (Corn, Grain sorghum, Cotton, and Peanut under defined conditions. Organize and assist in field operations such as fertilizing, spraying, inoculating, plot maintenance, inventory and maintenance of equipment and supplies, and general cleanup of equipment and facilities or as assigned by supervisor. Prepare summary reports of research results, refereed manuscripts, and present research results to various groups, including scientific meetings. |
Qualifications sought |
Applicants must have: 1-bachelor’s degree with strong academic record in agronomy, plant sciences or a related field; 2-strong written and oral communication skills; and 3-previous field/greenhouse research experience. |
