Description of duties General Summary:
The plant food formulation technician will be responsible for laboratory and field testing of new or experimental products that may include fertilizers, pesticides, and/or other gardening products.

Key Responsibilities:
* Support pre-formulation, formulation development, process development, process optimization, scale up and manufacturing and solve complex problems
* Work with multifunctional teams including: Field Biology, Process/Formulation, Regulatory, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Packaging/Durables Development to commercialize new/improved products/processes.
* Communicate results in written technical reports and periodic oral presentations to R&D and Operations.
* Support trials of new processes and new products.

* Create, route, and approve raw material and finished good specifications
* Perform all project tasks in compliance with corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety principles

Qualifications:
* B.S. in Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent natural science degree or experience
* Experience in bench chemistry & execution of experiments
* History of team oriented problem solving.
* Broad awareness of consumer lawn and garden products and practices

Skills and Abilities:
* Familiarity with basic methods of experimental design and statistical data analysis
* Results driven, highly-motivated individual
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to multitask, while being attentive to detail
* Exceptional problem solving skills including formulation diagnostic capability
* Ability to think strategically and abstractly
* Excellent computer skills

Primary duties to include:
* Prepare and test developmental and commercial formulations
* Conduct experiments and carryout assays and methods
* Conduct detailed observations of samples and trials
* Record laboratory information from preparations and tests
* Create design of experiments
* Use of specialized bench and pilot scale mixing equipment such as blenders, homogenizers, and compression (pelleting/
* Use of specialized measurement tools such as pH meters, drone imaging, image analysis software
* Use of specialized data analysis software and ability to perform statistical analysis
* Engage with project teams to develop new ideas, influence project execution planning, report trial results, and inform product design attribute
* Ship chemicals, manage waste and chemical inventory, and support safety program
