Description of duties

The successful applicants will conduct research on integrated management (using herbicides and non-chemical techniques) of problem weeds in agronomic crops in Minnesota. Students will also study the basic biology, ecology, and seedbank management of weed species. The research will include field and greenhouse activities. Additionally, the students will be involved with the University of Minnesota Extension programs, and the development of extension materials. Students are expected to publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and participate in scholarly activities and will be supported to attend professional meetings. Upon successful completion, the students will receive a graduate degree in https://www.appliedplantsciences.umn.edu/“>Applied Plant Sciences.

Qualifications sought
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Weed Science, Agronomy, Plant Sciences, or other related fields
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to the work of equity, diversity, inclusion, and a strong cultural competence
  • Strong quantitative and statistical skills, and experiences in small-plot field research will be preferred
