Description of duties We are looking for a Human Resources Manager who will join our HR Operations Team supporting our Hawthorne Corporate functions including the Customer Service and Sales & Marketing teams. This role will work remote with some travel to World Headquarters based in Marysville, Ohio and Vancouver, Washington.

This position requires an intellectually curious leader, with high emotional intelligence, a strong sense of urgency, and a passion for finding creative solutions to business problems while maintaining continuity with standard practices and processes. If you are innovative and able to drive change, engage, and influence the business to implement new ideas/programs, this is the opportunity for you!

Everyday you will:
* Be the face of HR to your business groups providing the highest level of business partnership and company stewardship
* Focus on how we can win the day and win tomorrow through continuous improvement
* Engage leaders at all levels through projects and day to day support.

To thrive in this role you must be:
* A self starter who operates well independently and in a team environment.
* A strategic and tactical contributor by delivering comprehensive, practical human resource solutions to people leaders and associates
* A talent scout- identifying opportunities to upgrade our talent, both internally and externally; communicating and training leaders on appropriate talent development techniques and forums.
* An ambassador of our culture- inspiring all to bring their best daily and living/leading our values.
* An experienced HR professional- ideally with 5 years of experience in an HR Generalist type role and a Bachelor’s degree. Certifications are a plus as they are achieved based on training and experience.
* Curious- demonstrating an innate desire to learn how things work and how things can be improved.
* Energized by high change environments and is comfortable with ambiguity.
* A problem solver- using creative avenues to solve problems, demonstrating both breadth and depth; demonstrating strong judgment and proven ability to diagnose issues, drawing on both professional experience and strategic thinking skills to drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative.

Experienced with:
* Supporting multiple business functions and knowing that not every work environment or culture is the same.
* A matrixed HR support model (centers of excellence – compensation, payroll, talent management, talent acquisition, etc.)
* Extensive Employee Relations experience/expertise (i.e. leading investigations from investigation to conclusion, coaching leaders at all levels with regards to feedback/development, managing EEOC claims, leading conflict resolution)
* Talent management / talent planning – upgrading talent through workforce planning and working with newer managers
* Have supported executives, managers and associates etc.

What makes this role unique from others:
* Many jobs say “fast-paced” and keeping up with the day to day. We would describe this role as fast-paced but high-change – just because we do something one way one day, doesn’t mean it will be the same tomorrow. Constantly thinking forward and being proactive to solve problems better than yesterday’s solution.
* You will also work closely with centers-of-excellence and peers to drive consistent practices across the company by stakeholdering and aligning where necessary.
* Hawthorne Gardening Company is a growing company and our industry is growing rapidly. We feel like a start-up in some ways but are a 151 year old company. There are opportunities for growth at any level of the company.

What we do for you (just to list a few cool ones):
* Competitive benefits including Health, Dental and Vision coverage.
* Onsite gym facilities at both corporate locations in Marysville, OH and Vancouver, WA.
* Fitness Club Reimbursement ($350) for remote employees.
* Nutrition reimbursement program (up to $200 per associate and per spouse).
* Immediate eligibility 401K match (up to 7.5%) with vesting and match.
* Immediate eligibility Discounted stock purchase program (15% discount).
* Our commitment to diversity and inclusion includes employee resource groups: Scotts Women’s Network, Scotts Black Employee Network, Scotts Veterans Network, GroPride Network, Scotts Associates for a Greener Earth (SAGE), and Scotts Young Professionals.
* 13 paid holidays and generous vacation policy.
* Marysville, OH Corporate location offers a Walgreens pharmacy and doctor’s office.
