The candidate will explore the role of phytochemicals in conferring stress resilience in weedy and ruderal plants. The research project involves:

  • Investigate the herbicide-induced perturbations in cellular metabolism, and the associated changes in the physiology, biochemistry, and carbon partitioning in plants using imaging, biochemical and metabolomic approaches.
  • Incorporate and advance the biological pathway and network analysis to visualize stress-induced molecular interactions.
  • Elucidate the dynamicity of metabolic networks using stable isotope-labeled flux analysis.
The successful candidates will also have opportunities to investigate plant responses to other biotic/abiotic stressors to elucidate cellular physiology of stress tolerance in agricultural weeds.
