Description of duties The Ph.D. graduate assistant will focus on evaluating chemical and non-chemical strategies for integrated weed management. The research topics include (but not limited to) evaluating cultural methods; cover crops; optimizing herbicide efficacy; and developing herbicide resistance management strategies for weed control in peanut/cotton production systems in Florida. As a Ph.D. researcher, student will be expected to develop and implement laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments; conduct statistical analysis; present results in state, regional, and national conferences; publish findings in peer-reviewed journals; and prepare summary reports to the funding agency. The successful candidate will also have ample of opportunities to be involved in extension projects/activities and present research findings to the stakeholder groups.
Qualifications sought 1. B.S. or M.S. degree in Weed science, Agronomy/Crop Science, Horticulture; Crop Protection, or a related discipline. 

2. Preference will be given to individuals with weed control, herbicide application and herbicide physiology.

3. Prior experiences with applied field research and crop production experiences are desirable.

4. Valid Driver’s License to drive University Vehicles.

5. Excellent work ethic, team player, and proficiency in English language (written and oral).

6. The candidate must meet all requirements for admission to University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences.
