Description of Employer The Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center is a unit in the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Florida and has diverse teaching, research, and extension education programs with 17 faculty members located on the Davie campus, and over 20 support personnel.

Description of duties

This position is a 12-month tenure-accruing position with 70% resarch and 30% extension. Duties will include development of a productive, interdisciplinary extramurally funded research program on understanding the causes and consequences of natural and anthropogenic drivers of change (e.g., climate, sea-level rise, biological invasions, pollution, urbanization and human population growth) that affect biodiversity in Florida. This may include but not limite to the application of field-based approaches, computational modeling, maching learning and population genetics withing the context of a complex urban.natural ecosystem interface.  The candidate is encrouaged to take a system approach and interated across multiple disciplines to contribute to the field of glabal change research and is not specifically organism-driven.

Qualifications sought

A doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in biology, environmental science, ecology, soil and water sciences, wildlife ecology or closely related discipline.  Candidates must have experience mentioning students and promoting diverse educational and professional environment. They must have clear evidence of scholarship through first-authored publications and an in-depth knowledge of how global change ecology, conservation and land management decisions are make and implemented.
