Description of duties

A PhD graduate research assistantship is available at the Weed Science Research Laboratory, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas to develop remote sensing/machine learning solutions for weed detection, classification, and mapping to facilitate precision weed management. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary team of researchers and collaborate with https://integratedweedmanagement.org/“>GROW (Getting Rid Of Weeds; https://growiwm.org/“>https://growiwm.org) and http://precisionsustainableag.org/“>PSA (Precision Sustainable Agriculture; http://precisionsustainableag.org/“>http://precisionsustainableag.org) networks. The position starts in the spring 2022/summer 2022 term.

Qualifications sought

The preferred candidate must hold or be currently working towards an MS degree in a relevant field. Knowledge of various sensors, familiarity with image analysis softwares, a strong interest in precision weed management, an aptitude to quickly learn concepts, and an ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team are must.
