Invasion of Giant Tumbleweeds Causes Clean-up Chaos in Wangaratta, Australia

The weeds, known as hairy panic grass, have left residents in a Wangaratta street facing a “big task” but have also sparked ideas on how to capitalise on the grass โ€” such as going into the scarecrow business.

“Walked out the front door this morning to find a good six-metre spread of tumbleweed across the front of the house โ€” again,” local Jason Perna told ABC Goulburn Murray.

“Two metres high by three metres in diameter that spreads right across the front of the house.”

“It makes it difficult to get the car out in the morning โ€” if you can find it.”
