Research Agronomist/ Agricultural Engineer with USDA – ARS in Fargo, ND

The USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) seeks to hire an engineer who can apply their knowledge of engineering technology, including automation and robotics, and biological science to help solve agricultural problems concerned with power and machinery, electrification, structures, soil and water conservation, and processing of agricultural products. Specifically, the successful applicant will develop a research program aimed at 1) developing sensing, measuring, and recording components and other instrumentation, using computer-aided design technology, 2) testing agricultural machinery and equipment to ensure adequate performance, and 3) collaborating with engineers and other scientists in academia and private industry to advance the science of digital agricultural for managing pests, primarily weeds. The position will have lab and field research with a direct connection to addressing the needs of clientele, including practitioners, resource managers, and consultants. A network that includes commodity boards and research institutions is in place to provide strong support for this exciting new position at ARS.
