Technical Services Regional Manager – Midwest

Description of Duties

The Technical Services Regional Manager for the Midwest will coordinate technical activities between Product Development Specialists and the Sales Teams to extend broad sales support within the region. The focus will be on commercial products and providing support to internal and external customers and ensure the delivery of a consistent technical message throughout the Sales and Marketing organization. Sales & Marketing Support Activities (70%): • Identify and coordinate Sales and Marketing technical needs for the respective region in support of the commercial product line • Establish a strong communication channel with Sales Managers and their Teams to ensure key regional sales directives are implemented and regional sales goals are achieved • Leverage technical data and expertise generated by the PD Team or third parties to provide regional geographic support for regional objectives • Develop and maintain productive relationships with key customers at all touchpoints such as channel partners, growers, crop consultants, and University Extension personnel • Assist Regional Sales Team in implementation of commercial product demonstration programs and coordination of new product programs • Support commercial crop teams by providing market intelligence needed to develop new product solutions • Plan and implement field training days and plot tours to support commercial products • Identify needs for focused training or seminars; serve as lead for external training and coordinate guest and expert speakers • Present relevant AMVAC findings and product updates at ‘Field Days’ as well as customer meetings, commodity / technical meetings and internal business teams • Assist in resolution of product complaints as requested by sales team • Preparation and review of technical bulletins, sell sheets, and other collateral to fulfil key sales and marketing needs to drive sales • Maintain and update external product recommendation guides Product Development (20%) • Actively participate in Product Development Planning and Results meetings to assist with developing protocols and identification of data needed to support correct positioning of new products and technologies • In specific areas of expertise and in specific instances lead Product Development projects as part of the PD Team. Regulatory Support Activities (10%): • Identify and track important regional regulatory issues where technical input can affect outcomes and provide such information to departments involved • Assist in securing justifications from key user groups and academics for FIFRA section 18 and 24(c) labels • Assist with writing of FIFRA Directions for Use for AMVAC products.
An M.S. or Ph.D. degree in an agricultural related field and 2+ years of technical support experience in crop protection is preferred. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu academic achievements. The incumbent must excel in verbal and communication to allow linkage of technical information with channel partners and sales team members. In addition, above average competency is expected in the following areas: • Excellent public speaking and technical writing skills• Experience in synthetic and biological crop protection• Agronomic and technical knowledge of crops, markets, and pests• Interest to learn outside the incumbent’s specialty• Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to prepare sales support materials• Adept at assessing field research results, literature reviews and translating science into market-related information• Strong analytical skills to identify new opportunities within region and effective planning skills for efficient execution of duties• Enthusiasm and commitment to excellence to help build a new Technical Support function• The candidate should be willing to travel overnight up to 25-35% of the time• Must reside within the territory ( OH, MI, IN, IL, WI, MN, IA, MO, KS, NE, SD, ND, WY, CO)• Pass pre-employment background check (e-verify)• M.S. or Ph.D. degree in an agricultural related field (agronomy, weed science, plant physiology, entomology, etc.)
