Description of Duties
The Weed Science Research Group in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at Mississippi State University, located in Starkville, MS, is seeking a graduate student to pursue a Ph.D. degree in Weed Science. The research project will focus on applied weed management in corn and may include laboratory work to complement the findings of the research performed in the field. The hired student is expected to work collaboratively within the MSSTATE weed science program and comply with the laboratory compacts.
– Applicants must have a master’s degree in agronomy, biology, horticulture, plant and soil sciences, crop protection or related fields.- Strong writing and communication skills.- Student must obtain a Mississippi driver’s license.- Experience in applied research or a farmer background is desirable.- Organizational skills are essential, and ability to synthesize and analyze data is strongly recommended. – The position also requires working outside year-round.
