Ph.D. Student in Weed Ecology

Description of Duties

The successful candidate will study the biology and ecology of dominant agricultural weeds and develop integrated management strategies using an inter-disciplinary approach. Some potential topics are weed-pathogen interactions, molecular biology in weed science, intra- and inter-specific gene flow, emergence and growth physiology of important southern weeds, precision weed control technologies, non-chemical weed-management tools, etc. Experience in molecular biology and/or plant pathology is preferred. Candidates with prior experience of writing and publishing research articles in reputed journals will be given preference. *Joining date is negotiable. **If you are qualified and interested in other areas of weed science, I can consider additional Ph.D. students too.
MS in biotechnology/molecular biology/plant pathology/ecology/breeding/genetics/weed science/agronomy/plant physiology or closely related subjects (MS final year students are eligible); a decent GRE score; relevant research experiences in lab, greenhouse, and field settings; proficiency in English with the required score in TOEFL, IELTS, or other qualifying tests as per university rules if the candidate is international; a driver license or the ability to get a license immediately upon joining; and being open to working with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
