The University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR), a statewide program with local development and delivery, is seeking the following UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Advisor. The IPM Entomology Farm Advisor will implement an innovative extension education and applied research program to address pest management issues facing agriculture. Research and extension will address high-priority issues related to ecologically and economically sound integrated pest management programs. Emphasis is expected to be on interdisciplinary projects that affect cool-season vegetables including leafy greens, such as lettuce, and cole crops, such as broccoli, along with other crops including strawberries and other berries, ornamental and nursery plant production and local specialty crops. This is an exciting opportunity to do research and provide research-based education on pest and pesticide-safe management practices to enhance production efficiency and profitability and to help protect the environment. Opportunities abound to build partnerships with USDA, PCA’s, growers, agencies, and other interested parties (e.g., California Strawberry Commission, California Leafy Greens Board, public and private companies, and the USDA, CDFA and CDPR research support programs). The advisor joins a team of highly motivated UCCE colleagues who are passionate about their work and are dedicated to making a difference within the communities and throughout California. The potential for collaborative projects within the UC ANR system is nearly limitless.
